Civil Construction Estimator & Project Manager Job-Ready Learning

Industry Challenge

The construction industry worldwide is facing a growing shortage of skilled civil construction estimators and project managers. As experienced professionals retire and infrastructure, housing, and municipal projects continue to expand, demand is outpacing the supply of job-ready talent. Many new hires enter the industry without structured onboarding or practical, hands-on training, placing additional strain on project teams and increasing risks to project cost, schedule, and quality. Closing this skills gap is becoming critical for delivering projects efficiently across the global construction sector.

There is no formal course taught in school that truly prepares individuals for the day-to-day realities of civil construction estimating or project management, nor do most construction companies have the time or resources to build a structured onboarding program from scratch. While there are many reasons this gap has persisted, our team invested significant time to carefully design and structure a practical learning path. The program has been reviewed and tested by currently working industry professionals to ensure the content is clear, relevant, and genuinely useful in real project environments.

This Job-Ready Learning program is designed for:

1) Individuals looking to start a promising career or make a career change in civil construction, whether or not they hold a civil engineering degree or diploma. While engineering qualifications are valued and can be helpful, they are by no means required for estimators and project managers.

2) Small-to-mid-sized civil construction companies that don’t have a formal onboarding program and want to accelerate the growth and productivity of their new hires.

Did you know: The typical total cost of onboarding a new employee in the first year ranges from 5% to 15% of their annual salary. Investing in structured onboarding can significantly reduce this cost while boosting employee confidence and performance.

Interesting Fact (Job Bank 2025)

Construction Estimators:

  • Only 14% hold a bachelor’s degree, 38% have a college diploma or certificate.

Project Managers:

  • Only 22% hold a bachelor’s degree, 7% have education beyond a bachelor’s.

Market Outlook for Estimators & Project Managers in Civil Construction

In today’s construction industry, employers are looking for professionals with practical, hands-on skills — including quantity takeoffs, cost tracking, change management, and effective field communication. These are the skills that AI cannot fully replicate.

Complete Package for Pursuing a Career in Civil Construction

It covers the most useful information for the civil construction industry. The detailed content, along with pictures and videos, really helps with understanding. A quiz might also be helpful to track how much I am absorbing throughout the courses.

An excellent resource for aspiring estimators and project managers

What I liked: The course is highly practical and hands-on. It clearly demonstrates the real workflows used by estimators and project managers in civil construction. I can see that once new individuals begin learning and understanding the material, they will be able to confidently jump in and perform tasks in their roles

What could be improved: It would be helpful to include more step-by-step examples of additional projects. Much of the material is text-based, so incorporating more video lessons or text-to-speech options would benefit learners like me

I have already recommended this program to my company for other new hires in similar roles!

Highly Effective Onboarding and Training

As a junior project coordinator with nearly a year of experience in heavy civil construction, I came across this onboarding program through a LinkedIn connection, and it has completely exceeded my expectations. The program offers an incredibly practical and comprehensive level of knowledge, covering every aspect of civil construction that estimators and project managers need to excel in their daily tasks. Even though I’m still working my way through the course, I keep thinking how invaluable this would have been when I first started. This is genuinely an excellent program for anyone new to estimating or project coordination.
